or Join If You're Not Yet A Member
All members were sent a renewal notice in January and over 100 members have already renewed for 2002. If you have not yet renewed there is a second notice enclosed.
Dues are only $40 per year, about 10 cents a day. It is greatly appreciated if you would renew now so we can avoid the cost and annoyance of continuing to mail out notices. Members should check their businesses information at VisitScotchPlains.com for accuracy. If you are not a member please use the Membership Form to join and mail to SPBPA, PO Box 862, Scotch Plains NJ 07076. Remember to Sweep, Weed and Keep Your Property Clean!! Last Chance To Donate A Bench We have had requests from businesses and residents who would like to donate a bench and we will be ordering more this spring. The cost of a bench is $500. If you are interested please call Jo Ford by March 15th at (908) 322-6700, ext1-306 to be put on the list. Locations have not yet been chosen but will be at the discretion of the Task Force / Township Council.
Memorial Day Parade Each year DECA asks for donations to offset the cost of buying flags which they give out to those who attend the parade. Since September 11th the cost of flags has nearly doubled and DECA has a very limited budget.
When you receive their letter asking for a donation please be generous so that as many flags as possible can be given out at the parade. Thank you. Renewal Fees Reduced The Town Council has changed the ordinance governing the renewal of Special Use Permits(SUP). Businesses having an SUP will no longer be required to pay the $20 renewal fee or pay for Certified Mail for property owner notification provided that there have been no complaints filed against the business in the past year.
A special use permit allows a business to display certain merchandise or food establishments to have tables and chairs outside their premises. It needs to be renewed every year. The initial SUP has a $35 fee associated with it and property owners within 200 feet have to be notified by certified mail. Applications for SUPs, and further information, can be obtained from the Building Department on the second floor at Town Hall. We would like to thank the Town Council for amending the ordinance with respect to renewals. Wednesday March 20th Hershey´s Deli Please see the On-line Announcement for details and RSVP information.
We would like to welcome the following new members to the SPBPA:
The Additional Donations We would like to thank the following members for the generosity by sending in an additional donation with their dues:
